Terbium Fluoride Powder (TbF3), CAS NO 13708-63-9

Terbium Fluoride Powder (TbF3), CAS NO 13708-63-9

Terbium Fluoride (TbF3) Powder is a chemical compound composed of the rare earth element terbium and the halogen fluorine. It is a white, odorless powder that is insoluble in water but soluble in acids.

TbF3 powder has various applications in fields such as optics, electronics, and catalysis. For instance, it can be used as a dopant material in glass and ceramic compositions for lasers and fiber optics, as a catalyst for various chemical reactions, and as a phosphor material for LED lighting.

Application

Terbium Fluoride is used in special lasers and as a dopant in solid-state devices, and has important role as an activator for green phosphors used in colour TV tubes. Terbium is used as a dopant in Calcium Fluoride, Calcium Tungstate and Strontium Molybdate, Terbium 'green' phosphors (which fluoresce a brilliant lemon-yellow) are combined with divalent Europium blue phosphors and trivalent Europium red phosphors to provide the 'trichromatic' lighting technology which is by far the largest consumer of the world's Terbium supply. Trichromatic lighting provides much higher light output for a given amount of electrical energy than does incandescent lighting. It is also used in alloys and in the production of electronic devices.
