Lanthanum Oxide Powder (La2O3), CAS 1312-81-8
Lanthanum oxide powder (La2O3) is a white, odorless powder that is commonly used as a raw material for the production of other lanthanum compounds, such as lanthanum metal, lanthanum fluoride, and lanthanum nitrate.
Lanthanum oxide is insoluble in water, but soluble in acids. It has a high melting point of 2,405 °C and a high thermal conductivity, making it useful in high-temperature applications. It is also used as a component in the production of high-strength ceramics, glass, and phosphors for lighting applications.
Lanthanum oxide powder should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources and incompatible materials. Proper protective equipment, such as gloves and safety goggles, should be worn when handling this material.
