Europium oxide powder (Eu2O3) is a pink powder that is commonly used as a raw material for the production of other europium compounds, such as europium metal, europium fluoride, and europium nitrate.
Europium oxide is insoluble in water, but soluble in acids. It has a high melting point of 2,350 °C and a high thermal conductivity, making it useful in high-temperature applications. It is also used as a red phosphor in television screens and as a dopant in the production of solid-state lasers.
Europium oxide powder should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources and incompatible materials. Proper protective equipment, such as gloves and safety goggles, should be worn when handling this material.

Application
Europium Oxide Powder, also called Europia, is used as a phosphor activator, color cathode-ray tubes and liquid-crystal displays used in computer monitors and televisions employ Europium Oxide as the red phosphor; no substitute is known. Europium Oxide (Eu2O3) is widely used as a red phosphor in television sets and fluorescent lamps, and as an activator for Yttrium-based phosphors. Europium Oxide is also applied in specialty plastic for laser material.
