Erbium Oxide Powder (Er2O3), CAS 12061-16-4
Erbium oxide powder (Er2O3) is a pink powder that is commonly used as a raw material for the production of other erbium compounds, such as erbium metal, erbium fluoride, and erbium nitrate.
Erbium oxide is insoluble in water, but soluble in acids. It has a high melting point of 2,400 °C and a high thermal conductivity, making it useful in high-temperature applications. It is also used as a pink or red phosphor in television screens, as a dopant in the production of solid-state lasers, and as a glass colorant.
Erbium oxide powder should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources and incompatible materials. Proper protective equipment, such as gloves and safety goggles, should be worn when handling this material.
