Aluminum Titanate Powder, Al2TiO5, CAS No. 12004-39-6

Aluminum Titanate Powder, Al2TiO5, CAS No. 12004-39-6

Overview

Aluminum Titanate Powder (Al₂TiO₅) is a high-performance advanced ceramic powder known for its ultra-low thermal expansion, excellent thermal shock resistance, and low thermal conductivity. It is widely used in the production of thermal shock-resistant ceramics, refractory materials, kiln furniture, and molten metal handling components.

Although Aluminum Titanate tends to decompose into aluminum oxide and titanium dioxide when heated between 800°C and 1300°C, its thermal stability can be significantly improved through optimized compositions, stabilizing additives, and controlled sintering processes. As a result, Aluminum Titanate ceramics are widely utilized in demanding high-temperature applications requiring exceptional dimensional stability and resistance to rapid temperature changes.

Material Characteristics

Aluminum Titanate combines an exceptionally low thermal expansion coefficient with a high melting point, making it one of the most effective low-expansion ceramic materials for high-temperature service. Under certain conditions, the material may even exhibit slight negative thermal expansion, minimizing thermal stress during rapid heating and cooling.

Its excellent thermal insulation performance, resistance to thermal cycling, and low wettability to molten aluminum make Aluminum Titanate particularly suitable for applications involving repeated temperature fluctuations and contact with non-ferrous molten metals.
