Description

Gadolinium(III) nitrate hexahydrate (Gd(NO3)3 · 6H2O) is a crystalline powder that is a hydrate of gadolinium nitrate. It is commonly used as a precursor for the production of other gadolinium compounds, such as gadolinium oxide and gadolinium fluoride.

Gadolinium(III) nitrate hexahydrate is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ether. It is a strong oxidizing agent and should be handled with care. It is used in the preparation of catalysts, in chemical research, and in the production of electronics.
