Cerium Oxide Powder (CeO2), CAS 1306-38-3

Cerium oxide powder (CeO2) is a white, odorless powder that is commonly used as a raw material for the production of other cerium compounds, such as cerium metal, cerium fluoride, and cerium nitrate.

Cerium oxide is insoluble in water, but soluble in acids. It has a high melting point of 2,398 °C and a high thermal conductivity, making it useful in high-temperature applications. It is also used as a catalyst in various chemical reactions, as a polishing agent for glass and other materials, and as a component in the production of solid oxide fuel cells.

Cerium oxide powder should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources and incompatible materials. Proper protective equipment, such as gloves and safety goggles, should be worn when handling this material.
