Cerium Hexaboride Tube, CeB6 Tube

Cerium hexaboride (CeB6) tube is a type of ceramic tube made from CeB6 material. CeB6 is a refractory ceramic material with high melting point, high hardness, and excellent electron-emitting properties, making it an ideal material for cathodes, electron guns, and vacuum devices.

CeB6 tube can be produced through various methods, including hot pressing, cold pressing, and extrusion. It has high thermal conductivity, good chemical stability, and excellent electrical conductivity, making it suitable for use in harsh environments such as high temperature, vacuum, and corrosive conditions.

Applications of CeB6 tube include electron microscopy, X-ray generators, electron beam welding, and high-temperature thermionic converters. CeB6 tube can also be used in the semiconductor industry as a diffusion source and in the nuclear industry as a neutron absorber.

 

Cerium Hexaboride Description

Cerium Boride, also called Cerium Hexaboride or CeB6, is a refractory ceramic material. It has a low work function and one of the highest electron emissivity known, and is stable in a vacuum. Therefore, the principal use of cerium hexaboride is a coating of hot cathodes, or hot cathodes made of cerium hexaboride crystals. Cerium boride cathode usually operates at a temperature of 1450 °C because it shows a lower evaporation rate at 1427℃ than lanthanum boride, but it becomes equal at 1577℃ and higher above that.
